Right now, children are inside the Dilley ICE detention facility, separated from everything familiar—afraid they will be forgotten. They haven’t been forgotten. This Valentine’s Day, the Children’s Rights community showed up for them.
Over 650 supporters wrote letters, drew pictures, and showed their love. Grandmas, teachers, veterans, parents and their kids. People from every corner of the country who simply wanted the children at Dilley to know someone is thinking of them.
“Dear brave one, we haven’t forgotten you.”
“The world is brighter because you are in it.”
These cards and drawings—they matter. It’s more than paper or words on a screen. We hope that a child will laugh at a silly pet Valentine. We hope that a parent will feel less alone reading your kind words.
In a place that can feel forgotten, these letters say: You are seen. You are not alone.
