Summer 2016 Legal Internship
Children’s Rights seeks committed and enthusiastic law students to intern in our office in the summer of 2016. Because of the relatively small size of our organization, interns enjoy tremendous responsibilities and assist Children’s Rights’ attorneys with all aspects of our pending class action impact litigation cases. Responsibilities may include assisting with trial preparation, conducting legal research, drafting pleadings and briefs, assisting with discovery, helping prepare for depositions, participating in strategy sessions, attending meetings with defendants and stakeholders, and contacting sources.
First and second year law students are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have strong analytical and writing skills and an interest in public interest law. Experience with or interest in child welfare, social services, social justice, civil rights, LGBTQ issues, juvenile justice, and/or immigration is highly desirable but not necessary. Applicants must be prepared to commit full-time to the internship for 10 weeks. Internships at Children’s Rights are unpaid.
Children’s Rights is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer, and women, people of color, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender people and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, unofficial transcript, and writing sample to Melissa Almonte at firstname.lastname@example.org by March 31, 2016. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
