Young Professionals Gather at a Charity Networking Event Benefitting Children’s Rights

The antique chandeliers subtly lit the VIP clickthrough1-300x200section of The Ainsworth — but guests of the Children’s Rights Young Leadership Committee filled the venue with palpable energy for the organization’s first happy hour benefit. Nearly eighty of New York City’s prominent young professionals raised close to $2,000 on February 21st to support our efforts to protect abused and neglected children in foster care throughout the nation.

Event planners from Paige Management Properties added chic finishes to the upscale sports bar and lounge for the charity networking event. Instead of the Knicks game blasting from the gastropub’s plasma-clad walls, guests marveled at a multi-media gallery featuring artist Lesny JN Felix’s latest abstract collection and a video about Children’s Rights.

“It was a fantastic start to building a young leadership group that will support the work of Children’s Rights in a new platform,” said host committee member Catherine Petree-Biron of John Marder + Company.

Patrick McMullan, Co. photographed the event which continued into the late evening, as guests exchanged ideas about future fundraisers for Children’s Rights. Attendees also had the opportunity to learn more about our work. Some perused various publications detailing the organization’s efforts to reform failing child welfare systems across the country.

The enthusiastic outpouring of support for Children’s Rights was obvious in all of my discussions with attendees,” said Tabber Benedict, founder & managing director of corporate sponsor Benedict Lehman, LLC. “Each person I had the opportunity to speak with expressed their wish to be involved and help with future events. Everyone seemed to recognize the importance and significance of helping those children who might otherwise slip through the cracks of the social safety net.”

As clickthrough2-200x300guests checked in throughout the evening, they dropped business cards into a champagne bucket for a silent charity auction. Fabulous prizes included gift certificates to Spin New York and Rafaella on Ninth, indulgent gift baskets donated by Nora Mulheren, TheLuxurySpot.com and Laser & Body Cosmetica. Additional corporate supporters included Pop Chips,Charity Connector and Eventbrite.

“The event was successful because of the hard work the host committee did throughout the month,” said Petree-Biron. “And we are looking forward to the next event in May.”
