Notes from Field - Fall 2012

We are excited to share with you Children’s Rights’ newly redesigned newsletter, Notes From the Field.

In Focus this issue: Psychotropic Drugs and Foster Care, featuring Mia, one of thousands of young people who has been prescribed the medications while in care. She says that while some of the drugs, combined with therapy, helped her, others made her so sleepy that teachers couldn’t wake her. The feature delves into the controversy stemming from the lack of oversight some child welfare systems have over prescriptions.

Notes from the Field also includes CR’s legal triumph on behalf of Oklahoma foster kids, a glimpse into our ongoing campaigns in Massachusetts, Texas and Rhode Island, and a fantastic pictorial of the Seventh Annual Children’s Rights Benefit, featuring celebrities like Nick Cannon, Swizz Beatz and Bow Wow.
