Children’s Rights is thrilled to announce its 11th Annual Benefit on Tuesday, October 18th, where we will pay tribute to award-winning NBC journalist Natalie Morales, as well as law firm Yetter Coleman LLP and its extraordinary co-founder, Paul Yetter.
As part of the TODAY Show’s Pay It Forward series, Morales highlighted CR’s work and interviewed three former foster youth about their experiences in state care, bringing their compelling voices into millions of homes across the country. Then, in a show of commitment to our mission, she created a moving public service announcement for CR, which showed live and has since aired nationwide thousands of times.
Paul Yetter and his dedicated team at Yetter Coleman LLP helped Children’s Rights secure a landmark ruling in Texas, where Senior U.S. District Judge Janis Graham Jack asserted kids “almost uniformly leave state custody more damaged than they entered.” The case was brought on behalf of 12,000 plaintiff children — children like S.A., who was repeatedly abused, shuffled among 28 different caseworkers and 45 different placements, and aged out at 18 with no life skills and nowhere to go.
Please join us as we honor these incredible allies in the fight to defend America’s abused and neglected children. The event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in New York City.
