Melissa Cohen joined Children’s Rights as a Skadden Fellow in August 2009. She received her B.A. from Duke University in 2005 and her J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School in 2009. Ms. Cohen was a Darrow Scholar and a recipient of a Dean’s Public Service Fellowship while in law school. She also received the Women’s Lawyer’s Association of Michigan’s General Motors Scholar Award in 2008. After college she worked as a legal assistant at the ACLU National Office in New York. She has also worked at the Tennessee Justice Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and as a student attorney for the University of Michigan Law School’s Child Advocacy Law Clinic.
