Donor Privacy Policy

Our Commitment To Our Donors

Children’s Rights is committed to maintaining your confidence and trust. We take every precaution to protect any personal information you provide by employing physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard the security and integrity of your personal information. Children’s Rights encrypts all billing information, and personal information is accessible only by Children’s Rights personnel who are designated to handle donations, complaints, or requests. All personnel with access to personal information obtained via the Children’s Rights website are contractually bound to adhere to this policy. These safeguards apply to all donations, whether online, offline or via regular mail.

To the extent any donations are processed through a third-party service provider, our donors’ information will only be used for purposes necessary to process the donation. Children’s Rights collects the following types of donor information: names, postal and email addresses, phone and facsimile numbers, billing information, and complaint and inquiry information. Donations made via credit card on Children’s Rights’ website are processed by Authorize.net, which processes your gift using secure encryption methods and according to its own privacy and security policies. If your personal information changes or you would like to review the personal information we may have on file for you, please email us with the new information or your review request at development@childrensrights.org.

What Information We Collect and How We Use That Information

Our registration and donation forms require users to give us contact information that may include name, e-mail address, format preference (HTML vs. Text), address, interests, and similar information. We do not request or store sensitive information from our visitors, such as credit card or social security numbers. Like many other groups, Children’s Rights may share personal information we collect with other nonprofit organizations — many of which we work with in our advocacy work. If you do not want your personal information shared with other organizations, please contact us and we will remove you from any shared lists.

Security

All information provided to Children’s Rights is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. We also protect account information by placing it on a secure portion of our site that is only accessible by certain qualified employees of Children’s Rights. Unfortunately, however, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.
